consumer reports Nexen tires number 10

Nexen Tires is hanging out with (and in some cases above) the big league tire companies. Consumer Reports has released a “tire brand report card” that places Nexen above some big names like Uniroyal and Bridgestone .

This report card compared different types, brands and models of tires and scored them on a scale of 0-100. From Ultra High Performance tires to snow tires, they “judged” them all. Some factors that they looked at were performance in braking, comfort, handling, hydroplaning, noise and snow traction.

Consumer Reports says “To earn a Consumer Reports recommendation, a tire must have impressed our engineers in testing and be an exemplary overall performer in its class.” So that definitely makes a tire buyer feel confident in their recommendations.  Nexen has claimed 10th place which is directly below Yokohama Tires but 1 ABOVE Bridgestone. Here is the scores:

  1. Michelin – 71.5
  2. Pirelli – 69.5
  3. Continental – 69
  4. Nokian – 67.5
  5. Goodyear – 67.5
  6. General – 67
